Two Thoughts on Current Events

I feel compelled to expound on two recent bits of news that has social media buzzing like a kicked hornet’s nest.  But the brain weasels are giving me good ideas like driving off a bridge, so fighting them off takes up a lot of brain power.

I’m combining the two here not because I do not find them important enough for their own posts, but to get what I think off my increasingly sagging chest.  So let’s go:

Harambe the Gorilla

Accidents happen, and this was an accident. It sucks that Harambe was killed. Kids are slippery beasts, especially in toddler stage. Don’t believe me, ask a parent, nanny, older sibling, daycare staff.  If you blame the family, you’re a pile of rotting genitals. If you blame the zoo staff, you’re a pile of rotting genitals. If you’re engaging in Monday morning quaterbacking, fuck off.

Also, the race of the family has dick all to do with the cause of this accident. If you believe so, you can also fuck off.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard

I believe victims. I don’t care how hot the abuser is. Nice men can also hurt someone they love. Saying that you’re neutral about an abuse case is just admitting that you don’t believe the victim, but you lack the spine to just say so.  If you blame the victim for whatever reason (her sexuality, his accusation of cheating, the time of the day, the color she wore, whatever), you are also a pile of festering, rotting genitals.

If having a woman with privilege do all of the supposed “right things” when abused gets her all of this “skepticism”, what does that say for other victims?

That is all. Thank you for your time.

Agreed on the misplaced blame for Harambe’s death. I blame zoos in general for existing, myself.

I’m not as familiar with the Depp situation, but also agreed that victims should be heard and believed and not dismissed just because their abuser is hot/popular/talented/etc.
