U.S. gun deaths in visual perspective

In 2013, over 11,000 people in the United States were killed by guns.  From Addicting Info comes this video by Periscopic, “a socially-conscious data visualization firm that helps companies and organizations promote information transparency and public awareness.”  Thanks to them, the dry statistics of U.S. gun deaths in 2010 and 2013 are put into a visual format that makes those numbers easier to grasp.

Sadly there seems to be no reduction in sight for the gun craze in the United States.

As an aside, I wonder where the anti-abortion protesters are. They should be lobbying for stronger gun control laws to reduce the number of firearm related deaths. After all, they’re fond of arguing that abortion cuts the potential life of a fetus short.  Shouldn’t they also be concerned that gun violence cuts short the lives of U.S. citizens?

Silly me! I forgot they value a fetus over existing human beings (also forgot that they are not consistent in their “pro-life” advocacy).
