One person is dead, and three people are critically injured after a shooter opened fire at a high school outside Seattle, WA. The shooter, a student at the high school, is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police responded to calls of shots fired at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Marysville, Washington at about 10:45 a.m Pacific time. Two students, including the shooter, have died, police said during a press conference.

Four patients arrived at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington at about 12:30 p.m. Pacific time. Three victims are currently in surgery, hospital spokesperson Erin Al-Wazan told Business Insider.

“They’re all critical. And they’re all young,” she said.

The fourth patient was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to Al-Wazan.

The patient, a male student from Pilchuck High School, is currently being evaluated, a Harborview spokesperson told Business Insider.

I wonder…is it ok to talk about gun violence NOW? After every shooting, the NRA and various gundamentalists who oppose gun control always say “now is not the time to talk about gun control”, despite the various questions that need addressing, such as “how did a high school student acquire guns?” or “why does our culture have so much gun violence compared to other cultures?” or “why do so many people turn to violence to resolve problems and why are guns so often the tools used to commit this violence?”
