Fischer: God didn’t stop Newtown shooting because he’s a “gentleman”

Bryan Fischer asserts that because Christianity isn’t taught in public schools, God was unwilling to step in and stop the shooting because he doesn’t appear where he’s not wanted. Never mind that students are (as always) free to pray as they see fit — they’re just not LED in prayer by school officials, forcing all students to either pray if they believe, or sit quietly in the hallways while public school time is wasted on prayer.

Explain, then, to me why the Colorado theatre shooting happened, when overtly Christian movies make the theatres all the fucking time?

    Heh.

You dislike when people make gross and inaccurate generalizations about atheism, but far be it from the Lousy Canuck or any at FtB to refuse to make gross and inaccurate generalizations about others that you perceive to be your enemy.

    Funny.

What a disgusting old troll this man is, shouting his agenda over the sobs of parents and the still-warm corpses of children, making flimsy excuses for the fictional product he pushes, and probably getting paid handsomely to do it. Thanks for shedding light on this cockroach.

Jay, the guy said it and he posted it. It’s not inaccurate or a misrepresentation. If some dummy assumes EVERYONE thinks that way, that’s not the author’s fault. This is an accurate representation of at least one religionist’s opinion. I suppose I could placate you by saying we don’t KNOW if any other religionists feel this way, but is it really likely that this is just one man’s opinion and it’s not representative of ANY other religionists? No. At least some other religionists certainly feel this way. But the author didn’t even go that far. Just presented the opinion. You’re obfuscating by accusing him of an assumption he didn’t make.

Not only off topic, but completely misunderstanding the point of what I wrote by declaring that I somehow think Dawkins is an “enemy”, whatever that means in Jay’s limited worldview.

Wait a minute, Jason… You hate Dawkins? Well, I guess I need to check out the rational, logical argument that led Jay to that conclusion. I’m sure it’s dizzying.

But back to the original post, forget about the shootings in churches, movie theatres and shopping malls. Let’s just talk about this shooting in CT. Where was God when Adam Lanza shot his mother in their home? Too much of a gentleman to enter a single woman’s home? Oh, and then Lanza drove to the school. Does God have a policy about intervening in cars/on roads as well?

Fuck off, Fischer. Your stupidity is making the situation worse, not better.

What makes matters worse is, Adam Lanza’s mother was a God-fearing, Abraham-and-Isaac referencing, and Obama-hating woman. Should be right in line with the types of people they think God would totes protect.

Yes and yet no. If she expected her God to protect her, she had no need for the four guns she is said to have owned (three of which wound up at the school).

You can almost guarantee there was more than one closet or bathroom with more than one child praying for help and the safety of siblings and friends in other rooms. There were probably several fairly clear invitations for the various Gods of the children and staff in that school to come intervene.

Just remember, in the good olde days of Bryan Fischer’s youth, where prayer abounded… People didn’t consider black people to be human beings.

It’s amazing how far morality has fallen since those days… What next? Gay people will be treated as equals?

Fisher must not have read the same bible I did. The god character can be called a lot things but gentleman is not one of them. If we were to allow mental health speculation without sufficient evidence, the god character would make a good subject.

As for the shooter, his actions were not those we associate with a rational person. Why he chose the actions he did, we may never know. Contrary to what the media would like us to believe these events, are not very common. This makes them hard to understand and effectively prevent. Without facts the amount of speculation becomes limitless.

PRAISE THE LORD, AND PASS THE AMMUNITION….

That doesn’t explain mass shootings in Churches.

(I can hear the apologetics now: oh, that is the wrong kind of church. Their theology is wrong so god doesn’t go to those churches and their prayers aren’t answered either.)
