Karen Handel: Komen defunding Planned Parenthood was a premeditated attack

… by Planned Parenthood.

That’s right, we’re now in full-on Bizarro World. Also, something something shakedown. Blah blah.

Does this strike anyone else as projection? I mean seriously, what exactly did Planned Parenthood do to “premeditatively attack” Komen? This is like saying Greedo shot first!

Of course Handel, now-ex Senior VP of the Susan G. Komen For The Cure non-profit organization, trots out the canard that abortion activists have somehow made Planned Parenthood the face of the women’s rights movement. Somehow or another, those damned abortionists want to take over the movement to force everyone to get abortions. Or something.

The Susan G. Komen fund is a right-wing organization, judging by its operatives and executives (including Handel, ex-Republican gubernatorial candidate that she is), that happens to front on the topic of breast cancer. Planned Parenthood screens for breast cancer. A mere three percent of their business involves referring women to abortion doctors. The rest is contraception, STD testing, and (weighing in at 16%!) actual screening for breast cancer and assisting breast cancer victims.

But it doesn’t matter, because Planned Parenthood’s entire mission is about putting reproductive control back into the hands of the women who would otherwise be enforced baby factories, with the side mission of improving women’s health in the process. Every one of those functions is vital in improving womens’ lot in life. Any assault on Planned Parenthood is an assault on women, regardless of your political leanings.

There are some situations where it’s right and just to draw a line in the sand and say “this far, no further”. Planned Parenthood is one of those, because women’s rights are human rights.

Handel, now-ex CEO of the Susan G. Komen For The Cure non-profit organization

Actually she’s now ex-senior vice president of that organization. The CEO is Nancy Goodman Brinker.

Funny how Handel mentions abortion. How can she simultaneously advocate the reduction of funding for breast cancer screenings, claim that what Komen does is about cancer and not politics and blather on about how insignificant abortion rights are?

If the issues had been misrepresented, she would have done better to explain them than to go on this non sequitur.

I was RIGHTFULLY not muddled up women’s health issues. I then adjudicated for myself the maneuvers of SGK after they, ala Karen Handel, served it up to the nation. I have never been to subscribed to the services at Planned Parenthood. The country is wise to the gentle reframing of history put out by right-wing asshats. They’re gay-hating, self-loathing, projecting, hypocrites deeply infected by the god virus and they are really f’ing things up for the sane in society; tolerance for their antics are at an all-time low.
