Beauty Level-Up #13: Red My Lips Campaign ( + Giveaways)

It’s the second Friday the 13th in a row this year, and this is my 13th installment of this series. This delights me to an irrational extent.

A few months back, I became aware of the Red My Lips campaign. It intrigued me because I usually save red lips for particular moods, situations, and contexts. This means that many of the people who see me in my day-to-day life don’t ever see my lips painted in red (though they might see them in more outlandish colors like violet all the time because beauty is boring and I do what I want). I’m sure at least a few of them might notice that I’d spent a whole month wearing and touching up red lip color.

What ultimately sold me 100% on Red My Lips is their awesome attitude towards people expressing concerns about potentially problematic language. When I noticed some seemingly trans-exclusionary language on their FAQ page, I emailed them about it and made a gentle suggestion as to what might be some better wording. Not only was the FAQ updated with my suggestion but also the person who emailed me back, Danielle, was gracious and grateful about the whole thing. Being so thoughtful and positive about suggestions for further and better inclusivity is a rare thing indeed, and it warms my heart.

Another thing that warms my heart is giving away beauty products. Those of you who are my Facebook friends and/or are in the same Facebook groups as me already know this. In preparation for a red-lipped April, as well as through my Ipsy subscription and samples with Sephora orders, I’ve acquired lots of beauty products that I either have not opened and will never use, or that I’ve tried in a sanitary way (freshly-cleaned and sanitized brush dipped into the product then the product on the brush tested on my face or hand) and found don’t work for me.

A list of products I have available for giveaway is below. Items marked with an asterisk (*) have never been opened (as distinct from items I’ve swatched in the sanitary fashion I’ve described above, which some people might not be comfortable with). Be sure to comment with the number for the item you want. You don’t have to embed your email address in the comment (and I recommend against doing so), but be sure to have a valid email address on your account (or leave one in the email address field if you’re commenting without an account) so that I can contact you about where to ship the items. As with other giveaways I’ve done, priority goes to people who’ve never gotten anything from me then in order of comment received, and the shipping is on me.

Oh, and all the Shiro stuff aside from the samples? Boy band themed. I know.

Darn my luck at missing out on Bad Feminist. 😛

If they are still available, could I please get items 6-9, item 12, and item 16? So that’s the Shiro eyeshadows and blushes, the Buxom mini lipstick and the Becca cream samples.

I love your enthusiasm, but I’m hesitant to give that many full-sized items to one person so early in this post’s history. If no one else claims them in the week or so, I’ll send them all out.

Hi, I tried emailing you several times for the Shiro blushes but didn’t get a response. Could you please send me an email with a mailing address for you to heinous[dot]heina[at]gmail[dot]com?

HI! My first time reading your blog, and I’m glad to find it. I’m an atheist feminist secular humanist, too! So, I just say what item I’d like to win? Ok, Cover F/X Concealer in N Light. Thanks for sharing your spare beauty products.

Wow, you rock. I really enjoyed last year’s campaign and got to talk to a few coworkers about it who were then excited to join also.

My first choice would be the #6 Lance eyeshadow if still available and #15 glitter if not.
