Here’s some appropriate music for you:
I think this may be better.
No, no. THIS is music to anticipate kittens by. The Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra with Nora the Piano Cat:
So sorry, I didn’t realize it would embed like that. Thought I was just providing a link.
Talisker is a great name for a cat. Laphroaig, Ardbeg and Caol Ila would be pretty good too.
How did you choose the names Talisker and Houdini?
Back in ’91, Husband and I adopted a pair of littermates, Boris and Natasha. However, we arranged the adoption just before Christmas, and we were hosting the holiday for all the relatives that year. Rather than subject the poor kittens to that, we arranged for them to stay with their foster mom over the holidays. What a wait! It took forever, even with the busyness of the holidays, for Pickup Day to arrive. So I understand your feelings all too well!
OMG, you two crack me up… 🙂
YAY! Congratulations on the kitties! May you have many years of purrs and snuggles!
to jackrawlinson,
I like all those names! We did consider Oban as well, and someone else suggested Jura. But as our friend AnneS pointed out, Talisker sounds like an amalgam of ‘tail and whisker,’ which makes it a particularly apropos cat name.
and to geocatherder, I feel your pain. It’s only been one week but we are going stir crazy waiting for Pickup Day.
to Dana, all I can say is, witness the monsters you have created. And I mean us, not the cats.
In honor of your sweet new cats, let me share a few Mark Twain quotes:
“I simply can’t resist a cat, particularly a purring one. They are the cleanest, cunningest, and most intelligent things I know, outside of the girl you love, of course.”
“When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction.”
“You may say a cat uses good grammar. Well, a cat does — but you let a cat get excited once; you let a cat get to pulling fur with another cat on a shed, nights, and you’ll hear grammar that will give you the lockjaw. Ignorant people think it’s the noise which fighting cats make that is so aggravating, but it ain’t so; it’s the sickening grammar they use.”
“That’s the way with a cat, you know — any cat; they don’t give a damn for discipline. And they can’t help it, they’re made so. But it ain’t really insubordination, when you come to look at it right and fair — it’s a word that don’t apply to a cat. A cat ain’t ever anybody’s slave or serf or servant, and can’t be — it ain’t in him to be. And so, he don’t have to obey anybody.”
Talisker (great name) looks like the sibling of the two ferals we took in last winter.
I just assumed the kittens were kept in a box or something after they were born, and Houdini kept escaping.
It’s late and so your precious kittehs should be home with you now. Congratulations! We’ll all expect pictures and updates regularly….
And you are excused from writing anything of substance for at least 24 hours, so you can bask in the glory of your pets!
In British vernacular, “to have kittens” is “to go completely nucking futs”. I think this is clearly the case. 🙂
I completely subrscribe to and live by this xkcd-comic when it comes to cats.
Congrats on getting your two new furballs.
I think the proper vernacular is, “Smitten with Kittens”. Prrrrr!
I miss having kittens around. My hairballs are all former shelter cats, generally the unwanted who had been there too long.
