Atheist Meme of the Day: Criticizing Religion is as Valid as Criticizing Any Other Ideas

Scarlet letter
Today’s Atheist Meme of the Day, from my Facebook page. Pass this on; or don’t; or edit it as you see fit; or make up your own. Enjoy!

It is no more disrespectful to criticize religious beliefs than it is to criticize political ideas, scientific theories, or any other hypotheses about how the world works. That’s how good ideas get refined and bad ideas get weeded out — through public debate and vigorous questioning and criticism. Pass it on: if we say it enough times to enough people, it may get across.

When a person makes a testable claim: expect someone to test it.
When a person makes a untestable claim: expect someone to roll their eyes at it.
Any idea that only persists on the weight of belief does so on the most insubstantial terms.

Why religions think that they have a right to never be questioned is beyond me, but anytime someone criticizes them, the first thing they cry is discrimination. They can preach openly from their pulpits that people like me deserve to be tortured for all eternity, but let one of us claim that there may not be a God and we’re persecuting them. We’re infringing on their freedoms… Do they even understand what that word means?
What a crock of shit! Sigh!

Not only that, we’re also hurting their feelings and tries to take away the meaning of their lives, like the evil nihilists we are. *sigh*
