I’m so grateful to Aoife for deciding to come visit my fair city! See, I never get out to see it. I live a short bus ride away from downtown, but I just don’t bother to go unless someone gives me a reason. Which is sad, because I adore downtown Seattle.
And when I go, there’s always something new and fun. Even the construction cranes have a quirky sense of humor.
I zoomed out to get the construction equipment aficionados a better look, and managed to get a bonus crow in the shot. Score!
As we wandered through the Post Alley shops, it turned out to be a very good thing I’m basically broke right now, because I would have spent an inordinate amount of money on this children’s t-shirt.
When we went down to Seattle Center, this little darling in the Children’s Museum at the Armory got our attention:
I think it’s supposed to be on a glacier.
Those sword ferns are definitely out of all proportion.
Who knows what other fun things I’d find if I got my arse downtown more often? Aoife, come back frequently! And, my darlings, if any of you are going to be in the area at any time, please do let me know if you want me to play tour guide for you – it’s great good fun!
Speaking of fun things to see in downtown Seattle, as a frequent visitor I was embarrassed when a recent PBS special on great urban parks introduced me to Freeway Park (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeway_Park). I had no bleepin’ idea! I’ve driven UNDER the vine-draped cement shapes many times but had no clue there was a park on top!
:-D
