This is a theme that will recur with some regularity, methinks! There are a great many songs and music videos out there that are just plain fun. Such as this one: watch closely! You don’t want to miss the awesome bit of physical humor near the end.
Your mission for this week, should you choose to accept it, is to share one of your favorite funny songs. Nothing mean-spirited or very problematic, though, please. Humor that punches up rather than down, or humor that doesn’t punch at all, is always welcome! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.
The Cantina Pledge Drive continues! Thanks to those who’ve donated so far! I’m still trying to make rent, so if you have a bit to spare and wish to support my blogging, please click the donate button below. Thank you again, my darlings!
Please help keep the verdad flowing!
Since you started posting Postmordern Jukebox videos on Farcebook, I’ve become a bit obsessed and have stayed up past my bedtime more than once watching their videos!
Can’t go wrong with a bit of Tom Lehrer, though.
So I guess “They’re Coming To Take Me Away” is right out, then?
Somehow I haven’t figured out how to just leave the link instead of embedding the whole video. I just copy the url, not use “share,” so I don’t know how to do it.
Anyhow this video captures some of my favorite things: language and dancing, hilariously. Enjoy.
Gonna give you a short list that is probably missing my ultimate fun song because of course when I have to think of it, it’s gone, but:
– serious-fun, Irish dancing with attitude and Charlie Chaplin;
– something local – the Bermuda Biangle, a bit of Latvian parody-Russian-hip-hop – it’s so over-the-top I can’t tell if it’s offensive (they also have this, a remake of Benny Benassi, and to be honest, I like the remake better…);
– the Shrek version of a classic, I Need a Hero done with panache, style and an orchestra for extra drama;
– this one’s not funny as such, but as a lover of math, it makes me giggle every time: Mandelbrot Set by Jonathan Coulton;
– and this, because of the video.
Don’t worry, I have lots more. :)
Two playlists you should have in the future: one for pure cheese (OMG IF YOU THOUGHT YOU SUFFERED BEFORE) and one for ‘fuck you’ songs.
Reminded me of this. :D
Here’s one for all the older computer geeks.
Hey Hey 16k, by MJ Hibbett & The Validators
The Tom Lehrer song reminded me that Gilbert and Sullivan never goes out of style, especially in an election year.

I LOVE Postmodern Jukebox. I especially love this (not a funny song but I LOVE this)
But for funny how about something from my kid hood?
Pretty much anything by Roy Zimmerman will be funny, but also often a bit poignant.
… And I completely forgot about Flight of the Conchords…
