Sunday Song: Niobeth

Still reading, I’m afraid. I’ve got something full o’ substance planned, and if all goes well, I’ll be able to write it up tomorrow. It has got Ed Yong in it. I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am about that.

In the meantime, since many of you seem to be enjoying songs, I figured I’d share one of my favorite finds.

This may be one of my favorite things ever. I love the song itself, I love the video, I love the feeling it leaves me with. I think I want to spend the rest of my life with it, although it’s probably too early to make that kind of commitment.

What say you all?

Very nice – much in the Enya/Celtic Women vein. It’s funny to read the comments on YouTube on it, apparently a lot of people are taken to this video by YouTube even though the music they were browsing is nothing like it – one guy even said he was referred to this video from watching metal!

Yeah, Hayley was/is a familiar face with Celtic Woman. She’s of Dutch/Irish extraction. She sings in innumerable languages, including, As Gaeilge. Celtic Woman are a class act, to be sure! They’ve done Ireland proud, with their broad range of singing genres.

Linda Ronstadt is also a powerful singer. I watched her on an old youtube clip, singing ‘Mendecino’ with the McGarrigle sisters. Her talent shone through. She’s so versatile. She’s a firm favourite with Ronan Collins, who hosts an Irish popular morning music radio show, since the time of Methuslah.
