If I don’t get some reading done soon, there won’t be any Los Links. So I’m going to throw a song at you and run. I found this whilst spelunking YouTube for new-to-me music, and it surprised me. I’d somehow assumed from something else I’d stumbled across that her music was kind of light and pop, but no – we’ve got this gorgeous, dark, classically-influenced delight:
Right. This is your cue to talk about the music you love.
Thanks, I very much enjoyed that song Dana. :) To continue the theme of beautiful songs…
I saw this performance on Jools Holland a while ago by the French artist Camille and haven’t been able to get it out of my head since.
Check out Andy Mckee:
I can’t decide if it’s the song, or the awesome harp guitar, or the wicked hot beard I like best. :)
And I’m going to risk getting flak for putting up a religious song, but it’s not like you can avoid them if you like choir music and christmas carols. I love Libera, the all-boys choir from London, and wholeheartedly recommend their christmas albums if you can get past the religious lyrics.
Well, this is music I love that yours reminded me of…
If you want new to you music, try:
1) Turkish rap. I suggest Ayben’s “Benim O”. Better arrangements than the American shit, and a seriously kick ass lady.
2) Tinariwen. Tuareg music from the Sahara.
hey, thanks! that’s a good one. I put the “Pure” CD in the next order for our public library (I’m the music selector). We don’t have any Westenra, so even better.
wow, that’s awesome too, I especially like the fiddle-work. I guess I gonna have to check this site at the end of the day to fill out my next order! (public library)
My favorite CD right now is Abby Newton’s Castles Kirks and Caves — terrific cello – fiddle duets. I couldn’t find a suitable youtube video, but you can have a listen at Amazon’s Music Sampler:

3)Yat Kha:Albert Kuvezin’s Tuvan throat singing punk band. Kuvezin’s take on Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” is bizarre and hypnotic.
4)The Mountain Goats. Hilarious, dark, disturbing and disturbed. I love this band.
