I like the way you took the news about SB 1172 and used it as a starting point. (Although I’m quite content in another respect to laugh at this, and hope for continued implosion.) But damn, what you say is all so true, particularly in reference to schools. I remember the same lame technical inclusivity in textbooks when I was a child, frequently regarding Black people, Latin and Native Americans, and maybe the Japanese and Japanese-Americans (and certainly nothing to do with LBGTQ people, who we mostly discovered ourselves, and in ourselves, in high school). It’s like They just toss a mention in a book to get it in there, or maybe a single example of one editor’s interests and attempts made the cut. (Not forgetting here that Texas rules the world of textbooks, either.)
