6 O’Clock BS: Perseid Meteor Shower – You’re Invited!

I’m going to be at the American Atheists Regional Conference in Saint Paul this weekend, so I can’t go camping, but maybe I’ll get a chance to see one or two meteorites meteors* early on Sunday morning. *sigh* Of course, seeing stars the morning after a pub crawl might be the result of a less than celestial cause.

6 O’Clock BS – Viewing Venus

According to timeanddate.com I should be able to “see” Venus in front of the sun now (given that I’m converting UTC to CST correctly!). I tried the pinhole camera trick, but I’m not getting anything for it that I can see.

One of my twitter pals posted this. I wish I had more time to try it.

Is anyone getting any good projections?

From Wikipedia – an image of the 2004 transit:

Makes you feel all small and mortal and astounded to be here, doesn’t it?
