Canada are sore losers

Yeah, right. The US invented sore losing. Jingoists blind themselves with their flag waving.

Last summer, before, during and after the olympics, a lot of Americans were whining about basketball and not the 2012 games basketball. No, they were whining about the 1972 games, forty years after the US lost fair and square. Get over it. The English took a year to get over being screwed in the 1986 world cup.

Plenty of Americans whine about the 1988 olympic boxing, 25 years on, claiming the judging was “rigged” to favor South Koreans. The 1984 olympic boxing (with South Koreans screwed over on questionable decisions) and other events were rigged to help the US beat the USSR’s record olympic gold total in 1980. Without the cheating, the USSR would still hold the record, something Americans couldn’t abide. 1988 olympic boxing was more about payback than cheating.

And the US STILL hasn’t gotten over Sputnik or Gagarin being the first of each in space.
