    @Change. That’s correct. In the South at this time there were Jim Crow laws in place to prevent black men from voting, and white Southern men really did not want black women to have even nominal enfranchisement. The National Women’s Party, fearing loss of support from white Southerners, did not welcome black women into their party. After the 19th Amendment was passed, Alice Paul (head of the NWP) publicly advocated for the right of all women to vote. But yeah, there was a lot of racism in the women’s suffrage movement.
