Frivolous Friday – Stuff I Make While Very Depressed

Weird thing.  Whenever I’m in a dip in mood – this one has been months long, I get the urge to do SOMETHING with my hands.

Not that, you pervs.

Crafting.  Making stuff.  Sewing, painting, cutting, knitting, crocheting, MAKING.

So, for this FF, here are some of things I’ve made so far (some are on the side because I suck at this whole “embedding” thing):

A doll I made for a Kickstarter. also FOR SCIENCE!

Yet another bag! This one holds my Surly pendents.

Reskinned a fan with a more appropriate to me fabric

A little coaster for my desk

A bag from an old Voltaire t-shirt

The beginning of socks!

I do bead embroidery for mental health. I think crafting does us all good. It distracts us from the crap our own minds try to project to us, and it allows us to create things we like and feel good about.

I’m married to a man who would be appalled at the idea of crafting… yet during our 36 years of marriage, he has built extensive bookcases and engineered a wood-and-copper fireplace mantle, restored an old Jaguar E-type from a basket case, and right now he’s building the inside of our someday retirement home on weekends. If that isn’t crafting, I don’t know what is!

Crafting keeps us both sane in an insane world.

I used to have a button that said “Knitting keeps me from killing everyone”. I should make an updated one that references myself.
