The United States is an Entitlement Nation

For this post, I’ll be donning my most favoritest hat of all time.

I’m about to say something that will shock readers. No, I’m not going to put up a trigger warning because those things are stupid. Trigger warnings are a creation of politically correct leftist liberal feminist communist marxists who whine and cry about any little thing. Who cares if a post about sexual assault triggers horrific memories in readers? Why does it matter if someone is made uncomfortable because a discussion of childhood abuse brings back awful memories? By God, this is still a free country and I’m tired of my rights being infringed. The First Amendment guarantees me the right to say what I want, when I want, and where I want, even if the things I say might trigger those who have been victimized. And don’t even think about criticizing me, because I’m within my rights as a citizen of this country!

Now, that shocking thing I was going to say?

This country has become an entitlement nation. We have become a nation of people looking for handouts from the government. The free housing was bad enough, but many of these moochers also get free food and the Nanny State liberal supporters are ok with this! Instead of people having a strong work ethic like they did back in the glory days of yesteryear-before the Civil Rights Movement, the Gay Rights Movement, and Women’s Liberation ruined this country with their pursuit of “equality”–people just want shit handed to them on a platter. As if we all have a right to housing. Or food. What’s more, our tax dollars support this! Mine, and yours, yours, and yours too. Our money, that we work hard for, is being used to assist people who have been fired or laid off from a job, or those people who have disabilities that prevent them from working.  With the release of a new Census Bureau survey, I’ve found another group that conservatives ought to direct their ire toward:

Sixteen million children were on food stamps as of last year, the highest number since the nation’s economy tumbled in 2008.

Numbers released by the Census Bureau Wednesday as part of its annual look at children and families show that one in five children were on food stamp assistance in 2014. The survey was taken last spring.

The number of people receiving food stamps — now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP — spiked through the recession and has stayed at a higher level since. In the 2007 Census survey, 9 million children received SNAP assistance.

Participation and spending appear to be going down, though. The Congressional Budget Office said this week that the government spent $76 billion on SNAP last year, down 8 percent from the year before. That was the first time spending went down since the beginning of the recession.

Around 46.5 million people received food stamps last year, according to the Agriculture Department, which oversees the aid, up from around 26 million in 2007. Participation is expected to decrease over the next 10 years, though higher food costs could keep spending up.

Half of the children receiving food stamps in the Census survey — 8 million — were living only with their mothers. Around 5 million children receiving food stamps lived with married parents.

That’s 16 million sets of hands that need to get a fucking job instead of expecting taxpayers to pay their bills for them! This is what I mean by an entitlement nation! Thankfully, Republicans are on the job and are looking to reduce the number of moochers:

The spike in food stamp spending has caught the attention of Congress, and House Republicans tried to cut the program by around $4 billion a year in 2013. In an eventual compromise, Congress agreed to cuts of around $800 million a year, policy that was signed into law by President Barack Obama early last year as part of a larger farm bill. Since then, many states have found ways to get around the cuts.

The SNAP program will still be under scrutiny in the new Republican Congress. The new chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, Texas Rep. Mike Conaway, and the new chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts, are both expected to take a look at food stamp spending in the coming year.

Now that there’s sensible leadership in the Senate and the House, hopefully we’ll be able to end these government assistance programs. We need to stop enabling these lazy poor people. If we threaten them with less food for their families, maybe they’ll get up off their couches and get a job. If you need money for food or housing, work for it!

I think I’ll be taking off the hat now. It wasn’t a very good fit.
