Here, let’s rekindle some faith in humanity

(I think people know which definition of faith I’m using too)

Via Feminist Batwoman, I’ve discovered Human Beings are all Kinds of Awesome Sauce, a blog that appears to be dedicated to showcasing the many ways in which humans can be kind, dedicated, compassionate, empathetic, and just all around awesome.  My faith, sorry, confidence in humanity is often challenged (see:  police brutality), and stuff like this is a nice antidote.  Here are just a few of the images that really made me smile with pride at our species:

I’ve no doubt that there are many people who do random acts of kindness, and that is a good thing. However, human nature is NOT basically good, it is depraved. As the Bible says: “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17 v 9).

Because we are depraved by nature we need a Saviour, and that Saviour is the Lord Jesus Christ.

I don’t believe humans are depraved by nature, and there’s no rational reason to believe we are. Humans are capable of great acts of kindness and compassion and it doesn’t take much effort to find examples of both all around the world. Yes, humans are also capable of acts of inhumanity and cruelty, but this part of the spectrum of behaviors humanity is capable of.
As for your assertion about Christ, there is no reason to follow the tenets of the Bible, to believe any of it is true, or to believe that the Bible and Christianity should be followed over Mormonism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Islam, or even Norse mythology. In fact, there’s no reason to believe in *any* mythology, since there’s no proof that any god-whether it’s the biblical god or the gods of ancient Egypt-has ever existed. It’s your choice to have such a horrible view of humanity, and to believe that you need a savior, but this “we” shit? You’re deeply confused if you think that applies to anyone but yourself. I’ll thank you to not speak for me.
