It’s not about the “hockey stick”

Peter Sinclair’s Climate Denial Crock of the Week videos are uniformly excellent. His latest discusses the climate contrarians’ seeming belief that all of climate science depends on that one thoroughly accurate hockey stick graph created by Michael Mann, which has been vindicated by correlating studies no less than nine times (and once by a true climate skeptic). Video below the fold.

The evidence that they believe that all of climate science is based on that one graph, is that they keep attacking it time and time again. And to hear a contrarian tell the story, the graph has been “thoroughly debunked”, though they certainly couldn’t offer you any proof of that assertion if you ask them.

I have to say that, despite him sounding every inch of Prof. Frink from The Simpsons, I love Richard Alley. He can tell otherwise mundane stories exceedingly well.

    a) Richard Alley is terrific.

    b) I love the arguments against climate change, evolution, etc. that start from false assertions of “what scientists base EVERYTHING on”. Most of the time they can’t even coherently or successfully disprove the false straw-man they set up.

    c) Richard Alley is terrific.

    Agreed, Richard Alley is terrific.

I’ve never watched The Simpsons, so I don’t know Frink, but anyone else see Michael Jeter’s “Dr. Bumquist” character from Fear and Loathing? Particularly in the introductory clip that’s dubbed over with an introduction.
