Yes, the same Chris Hedges that O’Leary called a “left-wing nutjob” as regards Occupy Wall Street.
Interesting — I don’t know too many left wing nutjobs that consider MoveOn.org to be a reprehensible organization.

Not that uncommon among some “left wing nutjobs” Move on is working within the system when it has reached the point where the system is the problem. It’s related to much of what is said here. All the organizations that are desperately trying to attach themselves to what is happening are doing so because they are being “left” behind for being the left of right rather than the left of center. Both Neocon and Neolib view the people as numbers but forget that the people far out number them and care far more about each other than them.
To the (major) degree in which MoveOn.org functions as part of the Democratic Party, they deserve all the reprehending they can get.
I don’t disagree with either of you.
I have never been an admirer of MoveOn.org, though I haven’t considered them reprehensible, either.
I fail to see how that’s supposed to endear him to me, Michael. Nothing about atheism is even remotely fundamentalist.
Rather moving. Ultimately the ‘movement’ will require (or acquire) a ‘face’ & I’m eager to see whether that will be a small inner circle or an individual. It’s difficult for me to imagine the corporations & financiers, who are the real powers, giving back even one drop of what they’ve stolen.
BTW Something I turned up on Wiki re Christopher Lynn Hedges (born September 18, 1956). He wrote I Don’t Believe in Atheists
which is on my reading list. An interesting, articulate, educated, white & middle class male 🙂
Bloody hell Jason lighten up – you’re seeing attitudes & positions that are not there. It wasn’t meant to endear you to him ~ why would you assume that?
I don’t think atheism is even remotely fundamentalist either & I don’t restrict my reading to material that I know I’m going to agree with.
“An interesting, articulate, educated, white & middle class male” is an accurate statement & I feel sure we all can learn something from him ~ hence that little background info [which was in the BTW & not my main message]
So…are you saying that it’s not uncommon for left wing nutjobs to call MoveOn.org reprehensible? Do I need to hang out with more left-wing nutjobs? Maybe I’m too out of touch with politics (and more ignorant than I think I am…I’m on the bad side of the Dunning-Kruger effect)?
