Oh Four Tuna

As mentioned by Philip Legge. Too funny not to post.

Tangent: my Carmina Burana CD was my soundtrack while playing the original Quake. Wasn’t a fan of the Nine Inch Nails soundtrack at the time. (It’s since grown on me.)

Thanks very much for the credit(/blame) for the new post! Here’s a link of possible interest to those who are into obscure lyrics of the late-12th/early-13th century:

A scan of a facsimile of the Codex buranus (D-Mbs Clm 4660), hosted at the International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP). The manuscript got its name from the Benediktbeuren monastery near Münich, where it survived in obscurity for many centuries, and is now in the collection of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. Orff used about 20 out of the more than 200 poems in the collection.

Lastly, on the subject of the variety of possible pronunciations of mediæval Latin (to a well-known tune):

    I say Car-meena, you say Car-minna
    I say Boo-rana, you say Buh-rana
    Car-meena, Car-minna, Boo-rana, Buh-rana:
Let’s Carl the whole thing Orff.

*fetches coat, runs out the door*

Wow – you Canucks…preferring Ray Manzarek and Carl Orff over Trent Reznor and NIN. You have sinned my son and come short of the glory. But confession is good for the soul…and at least you learned to like it a little 🙂

    Cheers…
