Kilmeade doubles down on Bill O’Reilly’s bigotry

So Bill Orally managed to offend Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar on The View so badly that they walked off the set before the commercial break. What got them in a huff? He said the so-called “ground zero mosque” should not be built, because “Muslims killed us on 9/11”. Never mind that it’s not a mosque. Never mind that the link is tenuous at best between the terrorism and the religion behind it.

Then. THEN.

Brian Kilmeade says, in all seriousness, that “not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims.”

If he had said, “all the terrorists on 9/11 were Muslim”, he might have been correct, though it isn’t particularly a “point”. Here’s the thing — those extremists attacked America on 9/11 in an effort to undermine America’s sense of security and personal freedoms via a symbolic attack on the largest centralized symbol of commerce available (the “World Trade” centre, remember?). And they largely succeeded because America went apeshit on security and started lashing out violently against not only two unrelated countries (19 out of 21 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia), but also against its citizens’ personal freedoms. The terrorists had won at that point. As there’s absolutely nothing endemic to belief in Islam that is particularly anti-capitalist (any more than belief in Christianity is anti-capitalist, though both religions most assuredly do have proscriptions against the worship of money!), the fact that they staged this attack had nothing to do with their religion.

Besides, here’s a list of terrorist organizations. The third group on this list has a non-Arabic name, and there’s nothing even saying that any Arabic groups are particularly affiliated with Islam (though the chances are pretty high). This list disproved Kilmeade’s thesis on line three.

And while we’re at it, 280 of the 355 incidents between 1980 and 2000 in the States were committed by domestic terrorists. And all of the violence against abortion doctors are also acts of terrorism — meaning, violence carried out to further a political agenda. By what definition is anti-abortion terrorism NOT terrorism?

“All terrorists are Muslims”? Get bent, Kilmeade. I could make a pretty good case that someone with a platform like yours, spewing such hatred like you do, is a terrorist. And I’m pretty sure YOU’RE not Muslim.

I watched that clip yesterday on Youtube. I respect Joy and Whoopi’s decision to walk off the set even though, like you, I was disappointed that they seemed to agree with O’Reilly that it was a mosque. I also was well aware of the impending Fox News spin that this is just another example of liberals unable to argue their position effectively; thus their position is wrong.
I can honestly say that I was not expecting what I saw in the second clip. Wow. Just….Wow.

It will be a non-issue on Fox News that someone said that, I would be surprised if their is even a retraction. I hope that Maddow or someone else picks this up and plays it on loop every time Fox claims journalistic integrity.

As to O’Reilly’s argument, by his own criterion, no churches should have been built in Europe after WW2 because all of the “terrorists” were Christians. There should be no overt signs of Christianity near the Oklahoma Federal Building, or for that matter, why should any Christian anti-choice organization be allowed to come within blocks of a medical clinic where a doctor has been murdered or the facility bombed?
