Wherein I beg (or: Help Jodi and Jason Afford Their Honeymoon!)

With the wedding exactly one month away to the day, and funds rapidly dwindling, I’m not above begging. We’re not in any kind of danger at the moment, but holy hell, the expenses sure did pile up fast — with the outfits and rings bought, and the party favors made, the big stuff is done with, but we’ve yet to pay for the last minute stuff, like hairdos, the Justice of the Peace, the appetizers / wine, or the venue. So, I figure we’re as good a charity case as any — I mean, hell, if Rick Warren’s Saddleback Ministries can make a cool $2.4mil in a week, despite how crazy sketchy his request was, people can throw a few bucks our way, right? I mean, at least here you know what it’ll be used for, and it definitely won’t be hookers and blow or getting out of gambling debts.

Therefore, I’m putting up a Paypal donation button for our wedding and honeymoon fund, for those of you who can’t make it but would like to throw a buck or two into the kitty, or those of you who might have a vested interest in seeing us make Minnesota in June, here’s how you do it.

I’m setting the default donation to $5 — but honestly, even a dollar would be greatly appreciated. Every loonie counts! And as always, thank you, my beloved intertubes!

Update: the embedded button in the post is, for some reason, erroring out, where the donate button on the sidebar isn’t. I think it’s having the certificate initialized twice on the same page that’s doing it, so if you feel you’d like to donate, please do so via the button to the right.

You are too kind as always, Critter. I promise there will be many many photos, and at the very least one video that will be posted.

(There will probably be a bit of a time delay on them though. No way I’m going to live-post a video and alienate my lovely wife on day one!)

You are far too kind khan, please know that your donation is greatly appreciated! If you’re comfortable sending Jason a postal address where you can be reached, I would like to add your name to the ‘thank-you’ card list 🙂 If not, please accept our digital thanks, and pictures will definitely be posted.

That goes to anyone else who donates as well, if you feel comfortable, please send us your address (if you haven’t already) so we can send along a thank-you after the wedding.

Actually, never mind, Jason informed me that your address was attached to the donation, I just didn’t ask before posting that, that’ll teach me.

Congrats, from a very rare commenter on Greg Laden’s Blog (slightly more frequent on Pharyngula when I can log on), but one who was *delighted* to the point of tears by the blog trail that led to the proposal. So I’m in for a donation. Have a wonderful honeymoon, and an even better life together!

PS – Just read through the links again and am all teary anew. . . Awwwwwwwww, you guys!!

Mike – you already lined up a donation of a book, remember? We expect to see you in person to collect! 😉

ctenotrish – aww, don’t, you’re going to make me all teary too.

Include me in the teary-eyed group hug please!
Thankyou so much ctenotrish for your donation, we were thrilled when we saw it this morning 😀 And thanks for commenting too!
Mike, you just made me realize that Jason had the date wrong LOL It’s July (for the Con) that we’ll be in Minnesota. Does that still count as the ‘Minnesota in July’ trick? 😉

There should also be a post going up later today with a few pics of various wedding things that we have ready to go. There aren’t a lot of our clothing because we’re waiting for them to be sent to us, but as soon as we get them we’ll add pics 😉

Dude, your wedding gift just arrived today! You’ve already sent us more than enough, I’m going to start feeling bad if you keep throwing stuff our way.

Rich, it appears to have hiccuped — I just got the error once myself, logged into my Paypal and tried it and it worked, then logged back out… and it worked again. Seems like minor Paypal glitchiness right now. If it recurs I’ll re-generate the certificate.

    Thanks very much sir!

Hmm – you’re donating yourself? Maybe you should offer to match everyone else’s donations…

Best wishes from Theo Bromine and Eamon Knight, another pair of Canucks that are similarly hockey and bacon challenged (though we do enjoy an occasional craft brew beer).

(BTW, only the sidebar link works for me.)

Thankyou for the present DuWayne! Sorry I’m late. We watched the first part of Color of Magic last night, it was great! I loved it, so thank youuuu! 😀
