Wedding stuff

Date is confirmed — February 5th. And we’re ratcheting down the costs significantly by going to the court house and following up with a night at a pub, instead of doing a big to-do. Not a lot of details yet, but I still intend to have it digitized and broadcast to the interwebs for all two of you to watch.

Also, I think we’re going to take down the wedding blog. I’ll import all the posts into my main blog, and give it a category of its own. Frankly, I think we’re not making enough progress on the planning and not posting nearly enough on the topic to merit its own blog anyway, so it’s just silly having it up. So, yeah, I’ll do that… eventually.

Look, ordinarily I would just continue ignoring you, Zdenny, but WHAT. THE. HELL. This was so ludicrous that I had to post it. First up, are you trying to gay-bait me? Seriously? Like implying that all I know about is men, is going to make me upset or something. I’m not even bi, and I have no compunctions about my sexuality that I’d get upset about being sidelong-accused of being gay, but the implication was pretty obvious. And pretty denigrating to gays, but that’s certainly right within your MO.

And secondly, and way more importantly, I’ve been “living in sin” with Jodi for three fucking years now. There’s precious little new I can “discover” about her, much less her spirituality. Because she’s not. Like everyone else, at one point, she was determined to figure out how the universe works by turning to horoscopes or ghost stories or other such stuff, but at the moment she’s more interested in how this universe REALLY works, and is upgrading her education so she can go into biology, and understand reality a hundred times better than you and your “life manual”.

    In summary:

Oh. And CyberLizard, we’ve been in a hot snap for the past week. I totally had to take off my parka yesterday.

Actually, it’s been 30, humidity bringing it up to 39. (86F, feels like 102F.) I’m pretty disgustingly smelly at the moment.

Seriously Zdenny I don’t know how many times I have to tell you I. Am. An. Atheist. My spirituality is zero.
You’re so insulting you’re not even worth it.

That is so cool. My own anniversary is February 1st! Great time of year. At least in habitable regions of North America. Probably colder than a Palin moose patty up there in Canuckistan around then.

Congradulations!! You will discover that women were designed a whole lot different than men. A woman is also much more spiritual inclined than men.

I have been married a number of years now and have a wonderful marriage. I look forward to going home to be with my wife everyday!! The secret to a great marriage is learning how to die to your own desires everyday. The message of the cross of Christ holds the secret to a wonderful marriage and a wonderful life! I wouldn’t trade mine for the world. I wish you the same joy in life!!!

Yay you guys!!! We are very happy for you and all two of us are really looking forward to seeing it all.

We love you, even if you are fucking Canuckistanians…

Funny story. Maybe two months after we started seeing each other, we discussed how we thought the relationship was going, and she said something along the lines of “well, I think it’s going great, and I mean, you’re a nice guy, you’re a geek, what more do I need to know?” I hope I’ve since surprised her a few times… I mean, some of the conversations we’ve had definitely didn’t go the way she expected.

I don’t honestly believe she can’t surprise me, because that would suck the fun out of the relationship, and turn it into the most boring drudgery ever. But I do believe we know each other well enough by now that she’s not going to suddenly up and say, “welp, there shore is a God, and I have a close personal friendship with Buddy Christ”.

Plans for pub night so far are mostly for us to buy a round or two for everyone that makes it, and maybe some appetizers, and they can buy everything else for themselves. Looking to book an upstairs portion of one of the local pubs, which they reserve for private functions. Will also consider having a few of the local relatives in, since my closer family has become considerably less close recently. Only problem is, the local relatives are even more steeped in religion than my parents ever were. So I’ll have to make sure a few people understand a few things first, and hope they don’t do something stupid like disown me in the process. But if they do, I’m getting used to family members giving me the finger for believing differently than them.

Oh. And get this. Honeymoon plans have pretty well always been, “let’s go to a con”. So, we priced out TAM8, Dragon*Con, Comicon, and even Boskone, and they were all pretty steep.

Forgot to look at Convergence until two weeks ago.

Didn’t realize Convergence is situated near some of our favorite bloggers.

Didn’t even realize that’s where Skepchick-con was, which Jodi really wanted to go to.

Especially didn’t realize that it would be among our cheapest options.

    😀

Woo Hoo! Congrats again! Excellent plans as well, I must say.

I still find it so… (Well, there are a lot of phrases I could use.) about zdenny. How fucking stupid is he?

Oh yeah: I am so stealing that Penn graphic!

  10. 11

Feel free, man. I’m sure Penn wouldn’t mind him being used to tell a silly theist what he should do. And I ripped that off myself some time ago and have been looking for an excuse to use it.

Yea we’re going to invite everyone close to us to the wedding, and then afterwards tell them that whoever wants to come to the pub can, and whoever doesn’t can just go home lol That way there is less pressure to ‘entertain’ them at a formal reception for a couple hours. I think the pub booking might happen this weekend so hopefully more details will be up after that.

Not to try to entice you to Minneapolis or anything (ahem), but SkepchickCon was such a success, I’d be really surprised if more of the Skepchicks weren’t there next year.
