Random Bits of Hilarity: The Further Adventures of Aoife and Dana

I’m so grateful to Aoife for deciding to come visit my fair city! See, I never get out to see it. I live a short bus ride away from downtown, but I just don’t bother to go unless someone gives me a reason. Which is sad, because I adore downtown Seattle.

And when I go, there’s always something new and fun. Even the construction cranes have a quirky sense of humor.

Image shows the black boom of a construction crane.
I’m so glad my brain immediately pounces on any writing and reads it, because I wouldn’t have wanted to miss this.

I zoomed out to get the construction equipment aficionados a better look, and managed to get a bonus crow in the shot. Score!

Image is zoomed out to show the bent boom over the corrugated metal roof of Pike Place Market. The mast of another crane, a construction-yellow tower of criss-crossed metal beams, rises vertically through the middle. A crow is flying beside the black boom arm.
The Legion of Boom and the Crow. I’m sensing a particular geeky theme here…

As we wandered through the Post Alley shops, it turned out to be a very good thing I’m basically broke right now, because I would have spent an inordinate amount of money on this children’s t-shirt.

Image shows a gray children's t-shirt. Under black letters that say #Selfie, there's a cartoon of Superman grinning at a camera while taking the photo with one hand and pinching Batman's face to make his mouth mimic a smile. Bats looks pretty grumpy about it.
Look at Superman squeezing Batman’s face to make it smile! Hahahahaha!

When we went down to Seattle Center, this little darling in the Children’s Museum at the Armory got our attention:

Image shows a white toy owl with black feet, nose and eyes perched on a fake glacier.
Wee toy owl perched high up on a mountain! Okay, so it’s not a real mountain, it’s a fake mountain which you can view from the Armory’s food court. D’aw!

I think it’s supposed to be on a glacier.

Image is a zoomed-out version of the above, showing the model of a mountain. It looks a bit like the typical Cascades non-volcanic peaks.
I think that’s a glacier…

Those sword ferns are definitely out of all proportion.

Who knows what other fun things I’d find if I got my arse downtown more often? Aoife, come back frequently! And, my darlings, if any of you are going to be in the area at any time, please do let me know if you want me to play tour guide for you – it’s great good fun!
