Religious Terrorists Are Killing the Women They Can’t Control (But They’re Not Islamic)

You’ve of course heard about the shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood that left three people dead and many more injured. There are all kinds of people running around right now trying to claim ridiculous shit, like the terrorist who shot up the place was a “gentle loner,” or was a leftist transgender woman. None of that’s true. We don’t know much about the asshole who did this, but we do know that all his neighbors were scared of him, he was an anti-Obama jackass who fell for those fake Planned-Parenthood-sells-murdered-baby-parts stories, and he was a Christian.

A lot of media outlets, politicians, and other people won’t want to call this terrorism, but it is. It’s a very specific form of terrorism, and it’s not just the shooter who’s the terrorist. There are many terrorists and their supporters involved in this attack and others that Planned Parenthood, along with various other abortion providers, have suffered. Some of them are running for President of the United States.

This is the terrorism I fear.

I’m not scared of Muslims when it’s the Christians who are doing the most to restrict my right to control what happens to my own body, and, when that fails, wind up the “lone wolves” and aim them at women’s health clinics.

The terrorist violence I am most likely to face doesn’t come from a brown dude with a Quran. It’s generally a white male, and when he isn’t shooting up, bombing, or burning the Planned Parenthood near me, he’s passing legislation that erodes my right to choose. He’s going to court to prevent me from obtaining birth control.

He’s on the sidewalk, screaming at me and mine when we try to get the health care we need. He’s trying to intimidate us into submission to his will. He’s trying to control our sexuality. And he’s enraged when we tell him no. Sometimes, enraged enough to take our lives.

I’m not afraid of foreign terrorists. I’m afraid of, and enraged by, the very American terrorists who target my body for destruction, whether by the gun or by the bill.

They’re the ones I’m most determined to stop.

Ani Difranco’s song Birmingham seems to be becoming more and more relevant each day (sorry can’t actually link to it right now, at work).

    Truth.

Although there’s also a lot the foreign (muslim and other) terrorists and the domestic (christian and other) terrorists have in common too including an ideology that blinkers them to the humanity of their victim and brainwashes them into thinking they have the right and the cause that justifies them committing atrocities to force their worldview and desires onto everyone else.

Terrorism is terrorism wherever it is used and terrorists are terrorists wherever and for whichever cause they carry out terrorism. And those who whip up and incite the hatred that results in terrorism such as the terrorism here against Planned Parenthood are ,well, what they are and disgraces to Humanity and all that’s best in our nature too.
