About time we had some happy fun times round here. Let us play with some of the first photographs of fall, then, shall we? All of the following photos have bits hidden in them, which anyone with a properly-attuned sense of pareidolia might see. I’ll help you along by giving you Subtle Clues.
Ready? Let’s see what’s not really there!
We shall begin with a simple one to warm you all up. This one’s from our recent trip to Ross Lake Dam. You can find a fantasy beastie along the trail. Question is, which movie is it from? Star Wars? Neverending Story? One I haven’t mentioned?
And there’s a waterfall in this picture, I promise you.
Right. Now you’re properly warmed up, find Jesus and Chthulu!
Special bonus internet points to anyone who can identify the type of rock we’re looking at.
Going more local to me, here is a late-blooming Bothell pea, with a face hidden somewhere within its surroundings:
And, finally, we have got a late-blooming rose with two bees. It’s the second bee you’re searching for:
I also just noticed the bee-shadow on the petals. That’s super!
The weather has been spectacular. With luck, it’ll hold through our upcoming Oregon trip, during which we’re going to go do a little light geology with Lockwood and soak in the last of the serious sunbeams. I’ll bring you back lots of lovely photos! And perhaps a few more hidden things, if you’ve enjoyed peering at these.
I saw the cross, but I couldn’t find Jesus. I may have found Cthulhu. Also, not going to guess on the rocks, though they look familiar.
I found the second bee, but I’m not sure if I found the pea-face. I’m still working on it just in case. I’m not much good with faces. :(
I see Crow T. Robot. Or maybe Kermit the Frog.
The waterfall is easy.
Ummm…broken?
Kitty!
Got him! Just peering around the right-most petal.
Thanks for the fun, Dana. Lovely moon pic in the other post as well. Did you happen to see the eclipse, probably the following morning?
There’s always a face. Or several faces. Trouble is, the faces I see are probably not the faces you see.
The Dark Crystal.
I saw Jebus’s torture device but not him. I’m too terrified to look for Cthulhu.
And then.. two bee, or not two bee? That is a good question.
Doggy-looking face, check. Waterfall, check. I don’t know about Jesus and Cthulhu; the cross is obvious. I do see a kind of scary-shouty face in the upper left corner, and William Shakespeare in profile near the upper right (I have no idea why he’s wearing earmuffs — it must get cold there).
I see a masked man to the right of the pea flower, and the bee creeping under the edge of the rose. The bee shadow is definitely cool — and for a bit, I thought a mark on one of the upper petals might be the shadow of a bee behind it, but decided not. Thanks for the pictures! Great fun.
THAT’S NO BEE, THAT’S A HOVERFLY!!!
(Both of them, I think, though the second one is a little hard to see properly.)
You’re right. I’ve seen them in real life – I should have recognized the photo. :)
(I think the hidden one only has one pair of actual wings, too.)
Answers, Dana, we need answers!
The face in the sweet pea picture:
I’m pretty sure I see Misha, Dana’s kitty, in the background a bit to the left of the uppermost flower. Very out of focus, but I can see two eyes and the white on her adorable face.
