Cross-Country Connections: Spring

Cross-Country Connections is a Biodork weekly blog entry dedicated to telling stories in pictures of three family members – me, my sister and Mom – living in very different locations across the country. Every week we choose a different theme and then take or contribute a personal photo that fits the theme. This week’s theme is Spring.

From Erin in Takoma Park, Maryland:

A paper butterfly embedded with milkweed seeds. A giveaway at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum to promote planting milkweed, the only plant that Monarch caterpillars eat. The Monarch population has decreased dramatically in the past decade due to the loss of milkweed.

From Mom in Carbondale, Illinois:

Crocuses are done. Trees haven’t started yet. This is Spring right now.

From me in Minneapolis, Minnesota:

CCC Spring Brianne (768x1024)

The grass is trying really, really hard to be…well…not frozen. It’s a start.
