Frivolous Fridays are the Orbit bloggers’ excuse to post about fun things we care about that may not have serious implications for atheism or social justice. I have feelings about coffee roasting. Judging from the reactions to these tweets, so do other people. Feel free to add yours in the comments.

Ah. summing up my psyche in TWO vectors. BTW – I’ve had whiskey with you, so I am still fuzzy on your dark roast problems!

Also, i’m trying to figure out when to finish Age of Ultron & i don’t have time for that either!!
I’m not a big fan of burnt/smoky flavors in whiskey either. The big problem is that they don’t play well with other flavors. They take over, and then the whole world is just burning.
It’s entirely possible my blood chemistry is so *mostly coffee* that I just don’t notice anymore…. strong flavors or NUTHIN!! 😉
It was drinking Guinness that gave me a taste for espresso.
Now, I’d steal a baby for a cup of coffee, any roast. Boo, ADD meds.

My Espresso needs sweetness but Medium roast coffee needs milk. Light roast coffee is a waste of resources.
That’s a little close to home, Madam.
I’ve loved coffee for fifty years, and the smell even before that. For the past twenty or so, I was seriously into dark roasted stuff. For a while I didn’t notice that it didn’t smell quite as wonderful as it once did. And then I realized that it didn’t taste good any more.
Every now and then I’ll smell some coffee that $HERSELF was grinding or brewing and for a moment it’ll smell good — and then go back to not. So I quit coffee.
Good thing I never had any use for the drug effect. But I’ll miss coffee anyway.
D. C., I’m not being remotely flip when when I say that makes me sad. Even as a child who wasn’t allowed coffee, I always loved the smell too. I’m sorry you’ve lost that simple pleasure.
