Dear Governor

You know what legislators are saying to women. You really shouldn’t miss out on what (mostly) women are telling them in return. If you haven’t already, check out the collections of Facebook posts and comments left for Virginia’s State Senator Ryan McDougle:

Hey, since you’re so interested in my health, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve been really horny lately because I’m ovulating. But don’t worry; I won’t engage in dangerous heterosexual sex that could result in a pregnancy. This is because I’m a really fat and hairy Lesbian and I plan on having sex with women for the rest of my life, the really butchy dykey kind. The current object of my affections, and central character in the majority of the sexual fantasies at the moment, is Alison Bechdel (pictured below). Thanks for showing me the light in regards to my own sexual health, in affirming that having sex with men in more trouble than it’s worth. The fact that women are sexier anyway, it just a happy coincidence.

And Kansas’s Governor Sam Brownback:

Hey Governor Brownback, I was just wondering if you could help me decide what brand of tampons to buy. I have a heavy flow, and I’d like to avoid any embarrassing leaks. I’m sure you’re very busy and I’m sorry to bother you. It’s just that, as a woman, I just don’t feel comfortable making these important health decisions without input from a male politician. I’m sure you understand.

This has been going on for a few days now. Many of the contributions have been deleted, but more just keep going up. McDougle appears to have disabled posting on his wall, but he can’t keep them out of the comments. I’ve saved a few more for posterity. We have those continuing in the highly personal tradition:

We have those looking for help with their ethical dilemmas.

We have those trying to spread the love to the governor’s phone lines.

And we have those that just go for the throat.

I rather like those, myself.

They express many of my thoughts, sometimes exactly. I’m glad they’re getting out there, even if the pols are trying to delete them as fast as they pop up.

I told my mum about this and said to her that I’d love it if we could similarly bombard Stephen Woodworth‘s Facebook and Twitter accounts (it seems there’s already a #TellAntiChoiceMPsEverything hashtag for the purpose), and we came up with the following appropriate themes:

*Ask Mr Woodworth about getting SINs and tax credits for sperm and ova

*Send/post pics of menstrual pads and tampons asking whether you should turn yourself in to authorities for committing homicide

*Are these pictures of semen and eggs suitable for passport photos?

*Since it’s theoretically possible to clone human beings from any cell, shouldn’t we be putting people with dandruff in jail?

*All fertile, sexually active women should automatically get permanent maternity leave since they might be caring for children at any time

*All foetuses conceived by women who are visitors or immigrants should automatically have Canadian citizenship–move over “anchor babies” we’re having “anchor sex”

I’m sure we can think of others… It’s time to put these misogynist troglodytes back into the caves.

While my ‘inner bitch’ is laughing hysterically at the shit storm these idiots are facing I have to wonder ‘what were they thinking’ when they started this.

Yes I know there is a war against women, but do they really think we’re just going to wither and whimper instead of stand up an fight? Social media is just the tip of the iceberg, we’re 51% of the population. We are still the primary caregivers, we have to worry about the impact of these ridiculous laws on our children. And don’t think for one minute all the men are on ‘that’ side of the fence. How many men want to be responsible for providing for 4 or more children (especially in this economy) while their spouse is unable to work due to constant forced pregnancies. What about affording childcare? (they never legislate pro-children laws, do they? Education, child care it is as if these things don’t exist to them) Many men are just as angry over these laws as women are, if for no other reason than their chances of getting laid, even by their own wives, have diminished rapidly.

Women are beyond angry, we’re pissed and getting vicious. Wait to see what happens when these legislators appear in public. (Don’t worry, we won’t use real blood, biological hazard and all) Tampon torpedoes away! Since we can’t legally shoot them, I suppose we have to be content with shaming and ridiculing them until they slink back under their rocks and leave the reasonable grown ups to fix all the mistakes and repair the damages their years in power have caused.
